BEST ACTOR
AAMIR KHAN(Ghulam):
GHULAM is about the conflict within a young man. Siddhu is not an intelligent man. His decisions are impulsive. Swept by circumstances, he is heading to be another Raunak Singh- until his consience pricks him. Then he fights back . His fight with Raunak Singh is not a trial of strength. He gets the better of Raunak not because he is stronger, but because of his will. He rises from the groung like a spirit. The final assult is an act of desperation. And slowly, the giant crumbles. The audience is with Siddhu all along. The film has a definite message for the youth: that they should not allow themselves to be swept around.
SALMAN KHAN(JAB PYAR KISISE HOTA HAI):
It was a different role. I play the father of an 8 year old son. And that was challenging enough. The way it worked is due to Deepak(Sareen).

(PYAR KIYA TO DARNA KYA):My role in Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya was entirely Sohail's conception. I have merely execcuted what he wanted me to.

SHAH RUKH KHAN(KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI):
The role called for a mature performance. For the 1st time I played a 30- year old father of an 8 year old daughter. I loved doing the scene. I was holding the newborn in my arms and kissing her hair while a musical interlude was playing in the background. instantly, I  was reminded of my son Aryan's entry into this world.
(DUPLICATE):I ve never suffered from thhis megalomanic indulgence tp play a double role. I know there's this belief that somewhere in the world you have a double. But  I dont believe it. When I was offered a double role, I told myself that if I had to play 2 characters that looked identical but were ppoles apart in temperament, I had to leave logic behind. And Duplicate defied all logic.
