BERLIN, Sept 23- Ferrari's Michael Schumacher said on Thursday he hoped
to be back
for the last two races of the Formula One season in Malaysia on October
17 and Japan on October
31.
"I am training in order to compete in Malaysia and Japan,'' the double
world champion told German
RTL television during a brief visit to his home town of Kerpen, outside
Cologne. "That's the goal and
I would like to reach it.''
The German, who broke his leg in a crash at the British Grand Prix
in July, invited the entire Ferrari
team to a traditional party in Kerpen ahead of this weekend's European
Grand Prix at the nearby
Nuerburgring.
Schumacher, whose right leg has not healed as fast as he had hoped
for, said he had no plans to visit
the Nuerburgring.
A final decision on whether he will be able to compete in Malaysia
will be taken after a test-drive at
the Ferrari track at Fiorano on October 7.
"The problem is whether the body will take all the strain from the
training,'' Schumacher said. "I still
have to be careful, especially with the knee. I will only get back
in the car if I'm 100 percent fit.''
The German has no chance of winning the world title after missing the
last five races since
Silverstone.
